Title: WHAT ATTRACTS THEM? A STUDY ON PREFERENCES OF TOURISTS IN KARNATAKA STATE SINCE THE PANDEMIC
Author: Sneha KS, Anjali krishna and Dr. K. Rajath
Abstract:

Perhaps no other industry was so badly affected as the Tourism industry due to the pandemic. The pandemic had spelled a doom on the tourism industry and people who are engaged in it. But thankfully the pandemic has ended now but we still feel its impact and influence even now. All governments recognize tourism is an important industry which contributes to the GDP of a nation. Every state government in India has recognized the importance of Tourism and so are promoting their respective states tourism in their own way. Many states have even brand names and terms like “God’s own Country” or” Incredible India”. But the Global Pandemic called Covid-19 has adversely affected the tourism industry. Tourism was directly affected as people have been forced to confine themselves to their homes as part of the Lockdowns imposed at various times. The World Tourism and Travel Council in a report on the future of the industry said the pandemic has shifted travelers’ focus to domestic trips or nature and outdoor destinations. Travel will largely be “kickstarted by the less risk averse travelers and early adopters, from adventure travelers and backpackers to surfers and mountain climbers,” the report says. In the end, the return of full-fledged tourism will likely hinge on what will be a deeply personal decision for many people as they weigh the risk of falling ill against the necessity of travel. This study is confined to the respondents from Bengaluru in Karnataka district. This study is also confined to the middle classes and the upper middle classes from the society of the region. The Indian tourism and hospitality industry have emerged as one of the key drivers of growth among the services sector in India.

THE IMPACT OF INFLATION ON FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT (FDI) INFLOWS: EVIDENCE FROM ZIMBABWEAN ECONOMY

Title: THE IMPACT OF INFLATION ON FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT (FDI) INFLOWS: EVIDENCE FROM ZIMBABWEAN ECONOMY
Authors: Simon Muwando, PhD and Lauratte Leonard
Abstract:

Zimbabwe lacks sufficient FDI even though the country is endowed with resources that normally attract FDI inflows. There is underinvestment in all the sectors across the economy as it faces a confidence crisis due to rampant inflationary pressures. This study examined the impact of inflation on foreign direct investment inflows (FDI) in Zimbabwe. The study employed an autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) technique to estimate the relationship between FDI, inflation and GDP on time series data from 2009 to 2022. The findings of the study revealed that inflation negatively influenced FDI inflows in Zimbabwe. The major recommendations of the study include inflation targeting and control, and implementing favorable exchange rate controls, political stability and combating corruption.

EXPLORING THE ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM OF MUSLIM WOMEN: A SWOT ANALYSIS IN THE EVOLVING ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, AND POLITICAL CONTEXTS

Title: EXPLORING THE ENTREPRENEURIAL ECOSYSTEM OF MUSLIM WOMEN: A SWOT ANALYSIS IN THE EVOLVING ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, AND POLITICAL CONTEXTS
Authors: Md Faizul Haque and Dr. Suresh Sah
Abstract:

Entrepreneurship plays a vital role in driving economic growth and fostering social development, yet the participation of marginalized groups, particularly Muslim women, remains underexplored. This study examines the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Muslim women, focusing on their strengths, challenges, opportunities, and threats within the rapidly evolving economic, social, and political landscape. The problem stems from systemic barriers such as financial exclusion, socio-religious discrimination, and limited policy representation, which hinder their entrepreneurial endeavors despite their resilience and cultural adaptability. The purpose of this study is to analyze the entrepreneurial journey of Muslim women through a SWOT analysis framework to provide actionable insights for stakeholders, including policymakers, educators, and entrepreneurs. This study utilizes secondary data from scholarly articles, government reports, and documented case studies to categorize factors influencing entrepreneurship into strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The principal results reveal that while Muslim women entrepreneurs demonstrate strong cultural resilience, community support, and increasing access to education, they face significant barriers such as limited financial resources, restrictive social norms, and inadequate representation in policymaking. On the other hand, digital platforms, global movements for diversity and inclusion, and supportive government policies offer promising opportunities for growth. However, socio-political instability, global competition, and resistance from conservative factions pose persistent threats. The major conclusions suggest that targeted interventions, including inclusive policies, entrepreneurial education, and leveraging digital technologies, are essential to empowering Muslim women entrepreneurs. By addressing these challenges and capitalizing on opportunities, their contributions to economic development and social equity can be significantly enhanced. This study underscores the need for a nuanced understanding of the interplay between economic, social, and political factors shaping their entrepreneurial ecosystem.

DIRECTOR CHARACTERISTICS AND EARNINGS QUALITY OF INDONESIAN FIRMS: AN EMPIRICAL STUDY

Title: DIRECTOR CHARACTERISTICS AND EARNINGS QUALITY OF INDONESIAN FIRMS: AN EMPIRICAL STUDY
Authors: Kezia Arliani Soetedjo and Sansaloni Butar Butar
Abstract:

This study examines the relationship between director characteristics where earnings persistence is used as a proxy for earnings quality. The characteristics of directors include director age, busyness, gender diversity of directors, and nationality. Upper echelon theory with the premise that a person’s actions are not entirely rational but influenced by personal characteristics (limited rationality) has been applied to develop hypotheses. The financial data were hand-collected from annual reports of Indonesian public companies from 2015-2022. As many as 3.119 firm-year observations were used for the test of hypotheses. Results show that the percentage of female directors has a positive correlation with earnings quality and firms with foreign director exhibit lower earnings quality. However, director busyness and age have no correlation with earnings quality.
