Abstract:

The Bundelkhand region of Madhya Pradesh is an area which is rich in historical heritage, distinctive culture, and natural beauty. Despite its wealth of tourism assets, the region continues to lag behind other parts of India in attracting significant tourism investment and sustainable development. This research paper aims to evaluate the tourism potential of Bundelkhand and explore sustainable pathways for its development using a comprehensive SWOT analysis. By identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, the study highlights strategic interventions needed to promote responsible tourism and socio-economic upliftment. The study identifies key strengths such as heritage richness and biodiversity, alongside challenges like infrastructural gaps and environmental concerns. It further explores opportunities in eco-tourism and sustainable tourism practices while highlighting threats like climate change and competitive destinations. The research findings suggest that enhancing infrastructure, promoting community engagement, and adopting sustainable tourism practices can significantly transform the region into a high-value tourism destination.
