Abstract: The aim of this research was to know how the Integrated Road Safety Management System was
applied in Jakarta. It was predicted that more than ten percent of traffic accidents had caused fatalities
and most of the victims in Jakarta were bikers. The research method used was a qualitative method
using judgment samples or purposive sampling used for selected informants in helping researchers
answer research questions in case studies. The research instrument used was the Strength-WeaknessOpportunity-Threat analysis toward the road safety management system and transportation sector as
well as the feasibility study of public road space redistribution and the traffic flow in downtown of
Jakarta. The results of this study were expected to result from a national action plan as part of a new
transportation policy that is formed in everyday life as self-reflection, mutual learning, active
participation and empowerment. The results of this study were expected to produce public safety
service products in the form of policies, Standard Operation Procedures, and education to the public
of Jakarta. Just standard design could not guarantee road safety in all conditions, so it needed to further
evaluation and research to measure the impact of a planning decision on safety. |
